Kilo Of Heroin, Pounds Of Pot, Stolen Gun, Pills Discovered In Stratford Bust

An investigation into drug sales in Fairfield County has led to the arrest of two men and netted the discovery of a kilo of heroin, guns, pounds of pot, and pills.

Kevin Tobar, 23, and Jonathan Matos, 28, both of Stratford, were arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 7, by Stratford Police, said Capt. Frank Eannotti.

According to Eannotti, the two were arrested on a warrant by the Stratford Narcotics Vice and Intel Unit, with the assistance of the Bridgeport Police Task Force as well as the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.

The arrests were the culmination of an investigation conducted by the Stratford Narcotics and Vice Unit that focused on drugs and firearms-related crimes within the Town of Stratford and Fairfield County, said Eannotti.

 Through the investigation, detectives learned Tobar, and his associates were responsible for the distribution of a large amount of marijuana, heroin and illegal THC vape pens.

During the search, detectives located a stolen firearm loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition as well numerous pounds of marijuana packaged for sale, more than a kilo of heroin, several hundred Oxycodone pills, several thousand dollars in cash and a ballistic vest. 

Additionally, detectives located several items used to process, mix and package heroin. 

Tobar has several cases pending for prior narcotics-related offenses.

 Both Tobar and Matos were with criminal possession of a firearm, illegal transfer of a firearm, possession with intent to sell more than a kilo of marijuana, possession of a high capacity magazine, operating a drug factory, possession with intent to sell heroin, possession with intent to sell narcotics.

Tobar and Matos are being held on $500,000 bonds.
